Nasturtiums

Linking up to...... Mosaic Monday

Here i go, almost missing Mosaic Monday again.

I love the bright orange of these nasturtiums. They shout out "look at me! i am beautiful and alive!"
I have a friend, she grows nasturtiums as big as dinner plates. They go well with her morning glories, which are as big as platters. Her thumb is green to the core.
I've always been good at growing things, but not quite that good. However mine turn out though, i love each and every petal of every flower. It amazes me how these glorious beauties come from little seeds, push their way up from the dirt and turn into this.

  1. you also can eat them, decorate a salad with some blooms, also add the leaves into the salad. I love them because the snakes don't love them, they also grow very good when it is only raining. Your MM is so nice and bright I take that into my new day!

  2. I was going to tell you the same thing Anja said. My aunt told me the seeds were used in place of pepper during WW II.

Thanks for the message you left on my blog. When I clicked to add it to my comments,I must have used bad aim because I rejected your sweet comment instead. I tried several times to change it, but Blogger won't let me.

As for chiggers, they are the same as red bugs. They like to bite anywhere you are sweaty...your underwear line, socks, etc. They itch worse than anything I've ever experienced! It's an old wives tail that nail polish suffocates them. I haven't found anything that stops the itches other than time! Whenever we go on hikes in the woods, I'm usually out of my clothes by the time I get inside, just in case...

  3. This is a lovely mosaic and I too love nasturtiums. Whenever I make green jelly I always place a chocolate frog on a nasturtium leaf so it looks like he is sitting on a lily pad.

    Best wishes,
    Natasha.

  5. I love your Monday mosaic. Also I love those nasturtiums and grow them on my balcony. I use them in salads, i make and decorate dinner plates with them too. As well as Anja does. Also I flavor oils and vinigar with them too.
    Sincerely
    Gabie

  6. Fabulous montage, Linda! These peppery flowers always make me smile ... they know how to light up a garden! I love the first image, I can almost feel those petals readying themselves to burst forth!

Wishing you a beautiful week to come!
